Rainbow Baby Maternity Session | Arcata Community Forest

Babies are God’s wonderful blessings to us. Any mother can tell you that holding your baby in your arms makes the whole world stand still for a moment. You and your precious human. You created it with love and your body has nurtured it for months. I came across Ciarra a few months ago and her and her family’s story really touched my heart and I knew within me that I needed to photograph and document their special story.

As Mike, Ciarra and Josalyn welcomed their new family member into this world there was nothing but love for baby Mia. She was a new light in their life. They learned that she was born with half a heart. She got to spend four precious months at home while waiting for surgery. Surgery went well but afterwards complications arose and strong Mia was fighting for her life. She was put on life support for 30 days and her family took care of her and was with her every moment of the day. I couldn’t imagine how hard it must have been for Ciarra and Mike as parents to endure to see their precious baby girl like that. On her last day on earth she was held in her mama’s arms and passed away peacefully on February 5, 2018.

Though baby Mia isn’t here on earth physically she is here with her family spiritually. She’s a little angel in heaven helping God guide her parents, sister and soon to be baby brother. Making any type of donation would be generous and beautiful: Pediatric Congenital Heart Association

As a memory of Mia, a teddy bear that weighs the same amount that Mia once did is represented in these photographs. Thank you for reading this hard, but real story of how a baby changed her family’s life forever. You will forever be in everyone’s hearts baby.

And finally this special photo because this is their rainbow baby that wouldn’t be possible without Mia.

You’re welcome. It’s a sad story but her memory has brought joy to them I feel.
