Sunrise Maternity Session at Trinidad State Beach

Here’s a tad different session that I’m posting today. You’ve often seen me blog weddings and engagement sessions but today’s post is about what happens afterwards 😉 It’s the product of love! I don’t only photograph lovers. I love to photograph maternity sessions and family sessions as well. I’ll be here for you from the time you get engaged to every family member you might add to your tribe. This session was special for me for two reasons. One being that Molly and I have known each other since our cheerleading days in school and second it’s the first time I busted out my new baby, the Canon 5D Mark IV. It’s my third baby now. (Ok, maybe my 4th since my hubby is like one of my children.) This session was a sunrise session. I was hoping for those gorgeous cotton candy skies where the night hour color of blue meets the pink and orange hues of the sun. However, we were given overcast skies and fog. But that’s Humboldt. It still provided us with that glow. I recommend sessions either early morning or sunset because that’s “golden hour”. It’s the most flattering light for your skin. Do it, you won’t be disappointed.

Molly and I went to school together but she’s a year older than me. She’s always been such a kind, genuine and soft spoken person. Being on a cheerleading team can well, be a bit catty at times. Molly was never catty. She always had a smile on her face. She met her husband while working a job in the Bay Area, where he’s from. They moved away from the hustle and caziness that is the city and came to her roots back to Humboldt County. He’s a firefighter that fights wildfires and that’s why he couldn’t be with us. Can we please thank him though for all of his hard work, sacrifice and dedication to keep us all safe. May you both be blessed with a healthy baby. That baby is going to sure be loved. (P.S. They’re waiting to find out the gender! How cool is that!?)

I just love black and white for certain photos. And can we talk about that bokeh? The 85mm lens is so my baby girl right now! It makes my clients POP off of the background!

Humboldt… where the redwoods meet the ocean!

Thank you so much for checking out this blog! Are you pregnant or know anyone whose pregnant? Schedule your maternity session sooner rather than later! Molly is about 7 months pregnant here and that’s the perfect time. It’s before you get too uncomfortable and sometimes babies come early so you got to be ready before they are! Have an amazing day!
