Elopements and small weddings are becoming more and more popular these days. There are a few reasons why like you don’t want to spend as much money, you want a small intimate feel, you don’t want planning to stress you the eff out, or you just want to be different.
Here’s a list of several venues and locations that I find gorgeous and unique to have your elopement or small wedding.
- Elk Head in Trinidad, California
This is a gorgeous venue and it’s so perfect. You just need to make sure that your guests (if you have any) are able to walk about 10 minutes. Between the brush and woods you’ll find this amazing view. At the end of the trail there are steps that lead down to this huge level rock/cliff. I’ve lived in Humboldt practically my whole life and I first saw this amazing location just a few weeks ago. Go there. You won’t regret it. I recently shot a styled shoot there. Here’s a link to that if you want to see some more photos from that shoot: https://elizabethborgesphotography.com/2018/05/06/elk-head-cliff-elopement-trinidad-california/ .
2. Wedding Rock at Patrick’s Point
Wedding Rock is known for hosting small and intimate weddings and elopements, hence the name. But it’s epic. It’s located in Patrick’s Point Park and there is a day fee but I think it’s worth it. Check out here: https://www.californiabeaches.com/beach/wedding-rock-at-patricks-point-state-park/
3. Houda Point in Trinidad
Houda point isn’t going to be able to host a lot of people but there are bilateral views of the ocean. There’s a short trail that leads you onto two camel like hump rocks. I was able to collaborate with some other fabulous wedding vendor’s for a shoot. Check out the blog post here: https://elizabethborgesphotography.com/2018/04/25/houda-point-elopement-trinidad-california-styled-shoot/
4. Humboldt Botanical Gardens
Need I say more? Who doesn’t want to get married in a beautiful garden? I’m shooting a wedding there in a couple of months and I just can’t wait to show you guys it’s beauty through my lens. http://www.hbgf.org/garden-rental
I haven’t been up to Kneeland in forever but I had the urge to drive up there and check it out (it also served as a way to get my kids to fall asleep). It’s quite the drive up there. Windy roads, trees on both sides. At times scary. However, this is great for those adventurous types! I can imagine seeing a lovely couple, their parents and siblings and maybe just a couple of best friends join together for a small intimate ceremony amongst rolling hills and mountains. https://www.google.com/search?q=kneeland,+ca&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjvlo3Y5f7aAhUh64MKHY7mCxwQ_AUoA3oECAAQBQ&biw=1406&bih=723
There are so many more great locations for your elopement and small weddings in Humboldt.
